Road Repair Update 8/5/25:
Contractor (JP Tucker Excavating) has the concrete headwalls for the new culvert in production, with delivery to the job site expected by Monday, August 11.
Beginning Thursday, August 7, crews will start removing the old infrastructure and grading the site to prepare for installation. The project is anticipated to be completed by Friday, August 15, 2025, weather permitting with the goal of reopening the roadway by the end of day Friday, August 15 barring unforeseen conditions.
ROAD CLOSURE:
Spillway Road between Eastover and Westover Parkway remains closed during repairs until they are completed.
7/29/2025
A contract has been executed with the contractor (JP Tucker Excavating) to complete the road and culvert repairs. Concrete fabrication is required to build the new headwall of the culvert. That is the first step of the repair. All construction activities will be scheduled after the completion of the head wall. Anticipated completion: 4-6 weeks.
ROAD CLOSURE:
Spillway Road between Eastover and Westover Parkway remains closed.
Orange County public School Transportation Department has been notified by LOWA of this road closure. OCPS Transportation is working on routing adjustments and contacting all school families impacted.

Out of an abundance of caution, LOWA is closing Spillway Road between Eastover and Westover Parkway at Keatons Dam until further notice.LOWA BOD has approved funding for the repairs of the damaged roadway and culvert, project bids are being reviewed. Next steps:A contractor will be identified and project plans will be coordinated.
Bank damage identified after the recent storm has continued to erode at the spillway exit and has begun to undermine the road (Spillway Road).
There are no concerns about the Dam or Dam Spillway itself.
Drivers coming from Westover Parkway can turn around at the RSA Pump Station at the emergency exit. Drivers coming from Eastover can turn around at Keatons Run Playground.
Please use alternate routes, this will be an indefinite closure until the culverts are replaced, and road repair is completed.
