The results from this past Tuesday’s Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) test sample came back with cell counts below state threshold and indicated a safe/low level for swimming and water activities for people and pets. The combination of recent heat and heavy rains are the perfect recipe for another bloom, thus SOLitude Lake Management will be administering the final 1/2 dose of copper sulfate treatment. UPDATE: Treatment will be administered Tuesday, July 16th instead of today, Friday the 12th due to heavy rains.
When applied by a certified applicator according to guidelines set forth by the EPA, aquatic herbicides and algaecides are considered extremely low risk for the ecosystem, wildlife, and humans.
Members may still notice surface scums because the treatment will cause the cells to die and float to the surface until they naturally decompose. Testing will continue weekly.
