2/17/2026

Main Lake Small Marina Update: February 17, 2026
Main Lake Small Marina Cove is OPEN to recreational contact.

LOWA and Rapidan Service Authority collected water samples for lab testing from the Small Marina Cove area. Those results have been received.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) E. coli threshold is 235 CFU/100ml for beach advisories (CFU and MPN are equivalent measures for this purpose).

LOWA sample from small marina = 14.5 MPN/100ml
RSA collected sample = 3.1 MPN/100ml

The Small Marina Cove samples have tested within the VDH state threshold which allow that area to OPEN to water activities.

Sewage Overflow Advisory February 11, 2026:
Main Lake Small Marina Cove is CLOSED to recreational contact until further notice.

Rapidan Service Authority has notified LOWA of a sewage leak at the Small Marina Pump Station B, located in the 1300 block of Lakeview Parkway (at the small marina). The pump station experienced an electrical failure this morning. An unknown quantity may have reached the Main Lake.

RSA maintenance staff corrected the problem immediately and placed lime on the affected ground as a precaution. A sample was collected from the lake and transported to the lab for testing.

Out of an abundance of caution LOWA will collect water samples for lab testing from the area and will notify members when test results are recieved.

Members and their pets should avoid contact with the water as well as any other activities that may pose a risk of ingesting water at the Small Marina cove in the Main Lake.

Customers in LOW should promptly report any issues with the sewer system to RSA by phone at (540) 972-2133. Technicians are on-call 24/7/365 and will respond immediately.
