Patrick Henry Court Drainage Project Update 9/3:
✅ Yorktown Blvd. OPEN to through traffic from Patrick Henry Court Road to Fairfax Lane.
Paving: Scheduled for the week of Sept. 15 on Yorktown Blvd. and Patrick Henry Court once pipeline work is complete.
Drainage Pipeline Work: Begins Thursday, Sept. 4, on Patrick Henry Court. Crews will install three crossovers from Yorktown Blvd. toward Hollyfield Park. Temporary lane closures may occur during this phase.
Hollyfield Water Detention Facility: Final grading, drainage structure installation, and riprap placement are in progress.
Yorktown Blvd. Water Detention Facility: Grading complete; riprap installation underway.
Next Steps: After Patrick Henry Court pipeline crossovers are finished, final site cleanup and equipment removal will take place, expected between the week of Sept. 8 and Sept. 15.
Erosion Control: Fencing will remain in place until grass is reestablished.
Hollyfield Park Playground: Remains closed, with reopening planned for mid-September.
Hollyfield Park Parking Lot: Scheduled for the week of September 15, resurfaced with tar and gravel.
ℹ️ What is a Water Detention Facility?
It is a stormwater management structure designed to temporarily hold runoff during storms and release it slowly. Unlike a retention pond, it is usually dry between rain events. This helps reduce flooding, prevent erosion, and protect water quality.
