Week In Review For 1/21/19
This week got off to a very chilly start. On Monday we had temperatures in the teens, with wind chills having it closer to 0 degrees. Way to cold for the mason to try and lay any block. We did have Kelvic Construction on site to work on raising the existing sanitary man hole structure to match the new grade. Everything was going good until the tracks on the mini excavator decided to freeze up. This put an end to their day as they spent about 40 minutes trying to unstick them before stopping due to the fear of having something break.
On Tuesday everyone returned to work. Masons put the poly back up that is being used for tenting purposes, the heaters were fired up, and as soon as the temperature within the tent area were up they resumed laying CMU (concrete masonry unit). Kelvic worked on freeing up the tracks of the excavator, and completed the task of raising the structure to meet the new grade. R.J. Biringer Construction mobilized back on site, and completed the prepping of the remaining slab on grade of the Pump Room, and Chemical Storage Rooms. Concrete was placed on Wednesday.
Ramsey Masonry continued with the placement of CMU, the setting of structural Lintels over doors and windows , and placement of embeds on all Shear/Bearing Walls for the remainder of the week with the exception of Thursday when they could not due to rain. Ramsey Masonry will be working Saturday to make up for lose time this week. As it appears now all placement of exterior CMU walls will be complete by next Friday. We were pushing to have this completed earlier to begin setting remaining steel next week, but it just didn’t happen. It’s been a constant tug of war with Mother Nature so far, but we will get through it. Once the building is up and dried in things will go more quickly. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Week In Preview For 1/28/19
This weeks activities will consist of the following,
Ramsey Masonry will continue, and complete all placement of exterior wall CMU by Friday.
All Electrical, and Plumbing associated with the exterior wall construction will be completed by Friday.
Staging of the crane for setting Facilities roof structure the week of the 4th is scheduled to be done on Friday.
Sounds/Noise to be expected will continue to be that of site equipment backup alarms, and equipment engines running.
Traffic expected will be light for the week with occasional CMU Block deliveries being made.
