Week in Review for 10-22-18

I’m happy to say that this week was a very productive, as well as a busy one. With Mother Nature showing some kindness in providing us with dry, and sunny weather we were able to complete all the site grading for both the new building, and parking lot. With these tasks being completed it allowed the concrete contractor to mobilize, and begin the excavation of the building footings in preparation for next weeks concrete placement. Daily inspections by the third party agency for sub grade compaction, and baring have been conducted, and have passed with no signs of any deficiencies. Placement of both the footings, and pier structural rebar began today, and will be completed on Monday of next week.
The site contractor wrapped up the week with tidying up the area by removing all unsuitable soils and miscellaneous debris. They will demobilize for a short time allowing for the construction of the new facility to take place.
The pool contractor continued this week with the fine grading of the new pools exterior walls and floor. The next step for them will be the stabilization of the pools exterior wall which is the earth. This involves spraying a thin layer of shotcrete over the entire surface of the exterior earthen wall creating a hard shell preventing any chances of a cave in during the pools construction, as well as serving as the pools exterior skin. The placement of the shotcrete will take place next week.
The team from Rapidan Service Authority were on site, and took care of tapping the existing water line, and placement of the vault. This will provide the new service to the new facility. It’s placement was completed on Friday.

Week in Preview for 10-29-18

This week we will see more of the same busy activities taking place.
The concrete contractor will be setting the anchor bolts for the new building columns, along with the placement of the concrete for the footings, and piers that will support the building columns, and walls.
The pool contractor will continue with the shooting of shotcrete for the stabilization of the pool exterior walls, followed by beginning the install of the pools plumbing.
The asphalt contractor will be on site Tuesday beginning the placement of stone on the new parking lot. The placement of the stone will be completed on Wednesday followed by the placement of the parking lots asphalt base being done on Thursday. By going ahead and placing the asphalt base now we will provide protection of the sub grade, and create a much needed staging area for the buildings steel that will arrive towards the end of November.
Lastly the mason will begin staging their material on site in preparation of beginning the week after next.
Noise will continue to be as it has been the past couple of weeks. Traffic will be somewhat heavy to to the multiple days of concrete placement. These activities are planned for Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. With the placement of stone and asphalt occurring in the new parking lot there will be multiple dump trucks in and out on Tuesday through Thursday.
As always we will do our best to not inconvenience the day to day activities of the L.O.W members.
