The Lake of the Woods Communications Department is pleased to announce that there are now two easy ways to find what you are looking for on The website now features a site search engine and a wide variety of slugs, or short web addresses, that members can use to access most of their favorite pages.
The LOWA website,, is one of the most frequented sources of information in the Association. The site averaged about 4,500 users per month during the first three months of 2018; that’s an increase of 745 users per month as compared with the same time period in 2017. The upgrades in September of 2017 helped to make it easier to navigate the site. However, at that time we were not able to include a site search engine. In March of 2018 a site search engine was added to the website; it was launched in beta mode so that it could be programmed to meet the needs of the community.
The site search engine is the fastest way to find the information that you are looking for. It is programmable and can be tailored to target specific content based upon the most frequent searches on the site. For example: in the month of April the most frequent search terms were “Dues” or “Assessment;” the search engine could be programmed to provide members with the top three most relevant links for those terms.
Members can also use one of the many website shortcuts such as or There are too many shortcuts to list but they are designed to be straightforward and common sense, so feel free to take a guess or email the to request or suggest a shortcut.
