“Viewpoints” Guidelines
The “Viewpoints” page in Lake Currents provides members of the Lake of the Woods Association an opportunity for an exchange of ideas with each other on issues affecting our community.
These issues may include, but are not limited to:
(1) Matters proposed to/under consideration by/decided by the Board of Directors, the Administration, and/or standing and ad hoc Committees;
(2) Any aspect of existing or proposed amenities;
(3) Recommendations from individual members for changes in policies, administrative procedures, covenants, by-laws, and other governing documents;
(4) Security and related concerns;
(5) Use, maintenance, and operation of the LOWA physical plant; and
(6) Actions affecting Lake of the Woods taken by Orange County, other jurisdictions, and/or governmental agencies.
Letters should not exceed 175 words. Submissions need member lot and section.
When the number of eligible letters exceeds available space, first-time or infrequent contributors will be given priority. Letters not selected for publication should not be held over for more than one subsequent edition.
“Viewpoints” will not be placed on the public pages of the LOWA web site.
Members expressing opinions in Viewpoints are communicating directly with each other, and their comments should (1) meet basic standards of civility and accuracy and (2) avoid direct or indirect criticism of individuals.
Comments regarding organizations not under LOWA jurisdiction should be addressed directly to those organizations. Letters regarding commercial businesses or services will not be published. Respect for the diversity within the LOW community does not permit publication of letters advocating partisan political or sectarian religious opinions.
