LOCAL RULES FOR L.O.W. GOLF COURSE
(EFFECTIVE 4/1/06) (Updated 2/29/08)
USGA
Rules govern all play except as modified by Local Rules below.
Additions and/or changes will be posted in the Golf Pro Shop.
OUT OF BOUNDS
- (Rule 27)
a. Out of bounds are marked with white stakes with the exception
of the fence on the right side of hole # 16, which is used
to designate OB. Double white stakes indicate the start and
end of OB.
b. Some property
owners have improved golf course property beyond their property
lines. The ball should be played as it lies if it is inside
the OB stakes.
c. There are a
number of golf course property wooded areas not marked OB.
If a ball is lost in one of these areas, the lost ball rule
applies.
d. If you think your ball is possible OB or could be lost in the woods, hit a provisional ball.
WATER HAZARDS
- (Rule 26)
a. Water hazards exist on holes 1, 3, 10, 13, & 14 and
are defined by yellow stakes.
b. If the bulkhead
on holes 1, 13 and 14 interferes with a player's stance or
area of intended swing, relief may be taken.
LATERAL WATER
HAZARDS - (Rule 26)
In order to treat the ball as lost in the hazard (red stakes),
there must be reasonable evidence that the ball lodged in
it. Otherwise, the lost ball Rule 27 applies.
DROP AREAS
- (Rule 26)
The only drop area-an optional area-is to the right of the
pond on hole # 14.
GROUND UNDER
REPAIR - (Rule 33-2)
a. Ground
under repair (GUR) will be marked by white lines.
b. Areas damaged
by maintenance equipment, tree stump removal, eroded and worn
areas adjacent to and within 1 club length of the cart path,
exposed gravel, French drains and exposed drain tiles are
GUR even if not marked.
OVERHEAD WIRES
- (Rule 20-5)
If a ball strikes a power line at the 2nd tee or behind the
4th green, the player must disregard that stroke, abandon
the ball and play another ball as nearly as possible to the
spot from which the original ball was played.
EMBEDDED BALL
- (Rule 25-2)
A ball embedded in its own pitch mark "through the green"
may be lifted, cleaned and dropped. This includes fairways
and rough, but not hazards.
"PREFERRED
LIES" and "WINTER RULES"
A player's ball in his own fairway may be marked, lifted,
cleaned, and replaced within one club length of its original
position.
STONES IN BUNKERS
- (Rule 24-1)
Stones in bunkers are removable obstructions.
Players
are required to keep up with the group in front of them. If
your team falls behind and you are observed by the Marshall,
you could be asked to pick up your ball and go to the next
hold, or during competitive play, be assessed a (2) stroke
penalty.
