Golf Course and Woods Center
The picturesque 18-hole PGA course was carved into the woods of oaks and pines, and no two fairways adjoin. The par 71 course, with four sets of tees for each hole, is designed with a variety of slopes, sand, and water, and can accommodate all levels of play. Men, women, and children alike enjoy testing their skills on the fairways and greens. Golf course maintenance is comprehensive and performed year-round to keep the course in top playing condition.
Course fees are posted on the annual LOWA fee schedule. USGA rules and local rules govern all play.
A PGA professional is on staff at the Woods Center and available for instruction and to discuss the golf program with members. The Golf Pro will gladly explain the many golf events scheduled throughout the year, as well as answer any questions. Ladies Clinics and Junior Golf Camp are scheduled annually.
Golf starting times vary throughout the year. The LOWGO Shop opens one-half hour prior to the first tee time. Tee times may be reserved up to seven days in advance. Proper dress is required and soft spikes must be worn. Golfers not properly attired will not be allowed to play the course. Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests are properly attired and familiar with the rules of the golf course.
The Golf Course Blue Flag Policy allows golfers with a physical handicap to use golf carts off the regular cart paths. Blue flags may only be issued to those presenting a handicap-parking permit issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
Current fee schedules are available for individuals and families on a daily or seasonal basis. Watch Lake Currents or contact the LOWGO Shop for special twilight rates available for play during light traffic hours and the cooler months.
The Golf Pro and the LOWGO Shop Manager can assist members with establishing a handicap via the computer in the LOWGO Shop. The LOWGO Shop also carries a full line of golf clubs and other accessories, along with clothing and accessories with the association logo.
In addition to housing the LOWGO Shop, the Woods Center provides additional meeting space for Association and club activities. The Fareways Snack Bar in the Woods Center is open to all residents, not just golfers. The facility serves a varied menu of breakfast and lunch items, with other snacks available throughout the day.
