new green barnThe Equestrian Center is a year-round facility supported by the Equestrian Committee and the LOW Riding Team Boosters Club.  Facilities include boarding stalls, a tack room, outdoor practice ring, show ring, wash stalls, and loafing sheds. A fee schedule is available for private boarding arrangements.  A Stables Manager and Head Instructor staff the stables with support staff as needed.  The LOW Riding Team Boosters provide volunteer support to operate the concession stand at horse shows from spring through fall.  Group and private lessons in English, Western, and Jumper techniques for age six and up, trail rides (age ten and older), and pony rides are offered. Short-term amenity passes can be used only for trail rides with a reservation.  The Center hosts an all-day Open House.

Children's Programs horse Rover and Dylan

Pony Camp is a one-week summer program of half-day activities for the young, inexperienced rider who wants to learn the basics. Children age seven and up learn how to ride, tack, and groom horses, and gain knowledge appropriate for their age group.
An intermediate camp accommodates more experienced campers age 10 and up. Although
there are usually six or more camp weeks scheduled, space fills up fast.  Applications are available at the Equestrian Center, the Holcomb Building, or see the link below.

Show Camp/Advanced Show Camp: These one-week camps are for young, avid riders age eight
and up who want to learn about all aspects of showing, including theory, course design, and setup.  Advanced campers must be proficient in basic horsemanship. Contact the Equestrian Center for other requirements for enrollment.

Adult/Junior Programsinside barn

The Equestrian Center sponsors the Hunter Show Series at LOW from April through October. These monthly shows offer both juniors and adults an opportunity to compete against other riders in their class. Show trips and an interschool team are also available.

The Lake of the Woods is the longest running hunter show series in the Fredericksburg area. It has
enjoyed many years of success and a loyal following.
