Tennis Courts

The tennis courts are located at Hollyfield Park, which is located off Yorktown Boulevard.

Tennis activities are organized and promoted by the Tennis Committee. Many of the LOW players are active U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) members and league participants.

Instructional/Competitive Programs

The LOW community has one professional who is a LOW resident and PTA-certified professional instructor, offering in-season outdoor clinics, group lessons, and private lessons for both adults and children. Members must pre-register and pay any associated instruction fees.

Rules and procedures for play are posted at the courts. Informal groups include women's intermediate doubles most mornings, men's intermediate doubles Tuesday & Friday mornings, and open tennis Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm year-round. Tennis socials are held on the second Saturday of each month and are open to all during the summer (April to October). The tennis schedule is published in Lake Currents.

Facilities and Procedures

LOW has six tennis courts, all located at Hollyfield Park. Four are soft hard surface for daytime and night time play and two are soft surface courts. The courts may be used from 7 am to 11 pm. There is an annual member fee to use the tennis courts along with a registration form. Locking the courts is the responsibility of the players after completion of their play.

Courts can be reserved at the sign-up board outside Court # 6. Single players can use courts for one hour, and double players for 90 minutes if the court has been properly reserved or are available and no one has signed up to reserve that time. Court access priority is given to those who have properly reserved court time. Walk-ons have second priority unless the signed up member is more than 10 minutes late. All players are expected to fill out a court usage log located on the inside of each gate. Guests may also use the tennis courts, but a member must be present when guests are playing.

These courts are strictly for tennis use only and non-marking tennis shoes must be worn. Please be certain the gates are locked up after use to prevent vandalism or other unauthorized activities. Children should not be left on the courts unsupervised. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our newly resurfaced courts in good shape.

Tennis Committee

This is the only committee that functions as both a committee and a club. Members work to promote and coordinate tennis programs; plan, schedule and promote tennis clinics, ladders, tournaments and special events; work to increase interest and participation in tennis activities by members of all ages; and establish local court rules to foster tennis play within the USTA Rules.
